PRACTICAL INFORMATION 

1.  Options to reach Norwich from different places in Europe by plane or by combining plane and train or bus

Airports include:

- Norwich International: The most convenient but usually more expensive, the carrier for regular flights to/from Amsterdam Schiphol is KLM with connections to lots of places. There are a few flights to very limited European destinations that are not daily.

Taxi to city centre is 10 mins (about £6-8) and to the conference centre is about 15-20 mins and costs about £12.

- London Stansted: Home to Ryanair and Easyjet low-cost carriers with lots of European destinations. Also has other flight operators (see at :  http://www.stanstedairport.com/flight-information/flight-operators/).

This airport is particularly interesting for a lot of destinations in Europe and offers the lowest costs for flights.

By car is about 90 mins drive to Norwich. There is a train which is via Cambridge and you will need to change trains to get to Norwich – total travel time about 100-110 minutes. There is a bus (National Express) which is slower but cheaper.

The National Express coach services run a route from all the main London airports to Norwich, and can be cheap (£15 one-way).

- London Gatwick: This will do main carrier continental flights and low cost flights. However, it is the other side of London and you need to travel into London on the train and/or underground and get to London Liverpool Street station to get the train to Norwich. The train to Norwich is fast and takes 110 minutes. The train station is reasonably central but for some hotels it would be 10 mins in a taxi. From the station to IFR in a taxi would take about 20 mins and cost about £12-15.

- London Heathrow: Similar to Gatwick, wrong side of London, but covers transatlantic flights and various European carriers also use this airport. The way to reach London Liverpool station and then Norwich is similar as that described above.

- London City: Good connections into London and then take the train to Norwich or for the cheaper/longer option take the bus.

2. Transportation between railway station or airport and IFR 

The number 25 bus goes from the train station to the University of East Anglia.

If you get off at the last stop in the university, it is less than 10 mins to the conference centre or IFR.

A one-way journey costs about £3-4.

The alternative is a taxi, which takes about 20 minutes and costs about £12. There are black cabs outside the station, to the right and in front of you as you exit. Alternatively, you can pre-book a cab by phoning. There are lots of taxi companies – e.g. Beeline, Goldstar, Greenfrog.

3. How to join IFR from Norwich city

Regular buses run to UEA (service numbers X, Y, Z) and to the hospital (numbers X) and the hospital is within 400 meters of the conference centre and there is a stop outside IFR.  

 4.  Accommodations in Norwich

Some of them are in the city of Norwich, some on the outskirts. Most are within easy travelling distance of IFR, a few are on the bus route or within 30 mins walk, but for most you will need to use a taxi.
