WG1 is organizing a webinar on online databases eBASIS and PhytoHub, on the 11th of May 2017, 15:00 Paris time.
Part 1- eBASIS the Bioactive Compound Composition and Beneficial Bioeffects Database
Jenny Plumb will present an introduction to, and walkthrough of, the eBASIS bioactives database. The database contains critically evaluated published data on the content and biological effects of bioactive constituents in foods and has a user-friendly, efficient, and flexible interface for use by both the scientific community and food industry. eBASIS contains data for 267 foods, covering the composition of 794 bioactive compounds, from 1147 quality-evaluated peer-reviewed publications, together with information from 567 publications describing human beneficial bioeffect studies. Alongside the walkthrough Jenny will also highlight some recent uses of the database including a probabilistic intake model allowing exposure assessment of dietary bioactive compounds.
Part 2- PhytoHub, a database dedicated to dietary phytochemicals and their metabolites
Claudine Manach will first present the contents and possible uses of PhytoHub, a database that has been designed for use in metabolomics, but not only. PhytoHub intends to be a community tool, which can be updated and improved by the community. With the user-friendly back-end system that will be presented, it takes 1-3 minutes to add a new information, which immediately appears on the website. POSITIVe partners with expertise on phytochemicals, their food sources or their human and animal metabolites are welcome to join the team of curators.
