CONTEXT

The Plant Science Master program is at the heart of an exceptional educational system.

The Master’s degree in Plant Sciences results from the joint effort of three famous French higher education institutions: the Paris-Sud University (second French university), AgroParisTech (the first French school for engineers in life sciences and the environment), the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan.

The Master’s degree in Plant Sciences is the main training program of The Laboratory of Excellence Saclay Plant Sciences (LabEx SPS). The SPS network links the largest number of state funded laboratories dedicated to plants with 380 permanent staff, more than 200 students and post-doctoral fellows, a budget  of 41 M€, more than 200 publications per year.  Thes LabEx SPS is composed of teams from three institutes: the Institut of Plant Sciences Paris-Saclay (IPS2),  the Institut Jean-Pierre Bourgin (IJPB) and the Institute for Integrative Biology of the Cell (I2BC).  SPS is 12M€ budget for 4 years with 790k€ specifically targetted to teaching and training. The Master’s degree training takes place between different sites situated on the Paris-Saclay campus in the heart of the Chevreuse Valley, close to the Palace of Versailles, where historically was created one of the first experimental agronomical gardens (the King vegetable garden) and near the Génopole of Evry with its network of high profile biotech start-ups. As part of an extremely fast-changing and competitive research and training environment, the Paris-Saclay University develops a strategy of international academic cooperation based on high-quality training courses and cutting-edge research.
