Apterous: pale green to yellowish.
Alate: green with a dark dorsal patch, antennae fine with processus terminalis long, cornicles swollen and slightly pigmented, cauda short.

Dioecious holocyclic with certain populations anholocyclic.

Primary hosts: Hippophae (sea buckthorn) and Elaeagnus (oleaster)
Secondary hosts: Polygonum spp. (knotweed)
