Large hazel aphid

1.7-2.9 mm.
Large yellow-green aphid, sometimes marbled with red, abdomen with capitate hairs.
Apterous: antennae longer than body, cornicles long and straight, cauda short.
Alate: antennae longer than body, abdomen with hairs and pigmented stripes or flecks, cornicles long and straight, cauda short and triangular.

Corylus avellana

Corylobium avellanae feeds on young growing hazel shoots. 

It produces copious amounts of honeydew which becomes covered with fumagine. This fumagine spoils the hazel nuts.
