This genus is characterized by the large size of the aphids. The alates show broad pigmented spots on forewing membrane.

The species are associated with Fagaceae. Colonies are visited by ants.

The morphs of this genus are characterized by the wing pigmentation, very short cornicles, reduced to a pore raised (conical) and a short cauda.
