This genus of aphids is characterized by their large size.

Its species colonize birch (Betula spp.) and willows (Salix spp.).

The morphs are dark, brown to black with small cornicles, straight or swollen, light colored, yellow or orangey to red; they are covered with hairs.

Colonies live on bark of branches and are visited by ants.
