S. elegans

Sipha (Rungsia) elegans Del Guercio, 1905

1.4-2.1 mm, green to yellowish spotted with brown.
Apterous: long hairs all over body.
Alate: Antennae short with 5 segments, numerous hairs and spots on abdomen, cornicles short and volcano shaped, cauda rounded.

Monoecious holocyclic.

Cultivated Poaceae: Triticum (wheat), Hordeum (barley), also wild forms: Festuca (fescue), Agropyron (couch grass)..

S. elegans is not very frequent.

The toxicity of the saliva of S. elegans induces the formation of yellow spots on the leaves which also roll up.
