Morphology

Insect measuring 9-13 mm long.
On the antennae the first two segments are reddish brown.
The abdomen is generally bronze, coppery colored, generally green, sometimes black.
The elytra are broad and only weakly convex.

Interest

They feed on slugs and numerous crop pests and sometimes certain plants (seeds) at precise periods of its adult life. Emergence of the adults occurs in April May.

Habitat

They live in open ground, in meadows and other rather humid fields, under stones and plants.
Highly common in open environments, it is quite rare in woodland and forest areas.
