The Pterocommatinae are medium- to large-sized, clothed with long tapering hairs.
The antennae, shorter than the body, bear 6 segments, the processus terminalis is short (the same or 11/2 times that of the base according to the species).
The cornicles are very small compared with the abdomen, they can be straight or slightly swollen; the cauda is rounded.
The species accomplish their life cycle on Salicaceae. They colonize branches, but can also be encountered on trunks.
