The Thelaxinae show antennae with five segments and a very short processus terminalis (less than half the length of the base).
The cornicles are pore-like.
The wings at rest are set horizontally. On the forewing the medial vein is once-branched.
The species accomplish their entire life cycle on trees (Betulaceae, Fagaceae, Junglandaceae).
