Multi-scale modelling, from animal Intra-Host to Metapopulation, of mechanisms of pathogen spread to Evaluate control Strategies

MIHMES aims to produce scientific knowledge and methods for the management of endemic infectious animal diseases and veterinary public health risks.

To optimize the design and implementation of control programs, a good understanding is needed of the mechanisms that underlie both the infection process and the allocation of resources to control actions.

MIHMES gathers five scientific partners having skills in epidemiology, infectiology, biomathematics, computer sciences, and animal health economics, and one associated partner from Sweden.
 
 MIHMES has two major interlinked strategic objectives:

  • To develop decision tools to evaluate the epidemio-economic effectiveness of disease prevention and control strategies at the scales of the herd, the region and the supply chain.

The MIHMES project is funded through the French Research Agency (ANR-10-BINF-07) in the French project call investissements d'avenir and by the European Program for the Regional Development (FEDER) of Pays-de-la-Loire.

MIHMES est un projet ANR - investissement d'avenir, cofinancé par le Fond Européen de Développement Régional des Pays-de-la-Loire (FEDER), qui vise à produire des connaissances scientifiques et des méthodes pour aider à la gestion des maladies animales infectieuses endémiques et des risques de santé publique vétérinaire. Pour optimiser les programmes de contrôle, une compréhension fine des mécanismes sous-jacents au processus d'infection et à l'allocation des ressources pour les actions de contrôle est nécessaire. MIHMES repose sur un partenariat entre 5 équipes françaises et une équipe suédoise, avec deux objectifs principaux : développer un cadre conceptuel de modélisation multi-échelle pour représenter les relations complexes entre de nombreux processus biologiques et de gestion du système; développer des outils d'aide à la décision pour évaluer l'efficacité épidémio-économique de stratégies de prévention et de contrôle à l'échelle du troupeau, de la région et de la filière de production primaire.
