Description: The method is used in apple orchards to evaluate the infestation dynamics of the rosy apple aphid <i>Dysaphis plantaginea</i> (RAA) at shoot level in spring, and to describe the complex of natural enemies preying in RAA colonies along the infestation period.
Description: this protocol presents an observation method and a scoring system to assess apple scab inoculum at the orchard level.
The assessment of apple scab (<i>Venturia inaequalis</i> (Cooke) Wint.) on leaves provides valuable information on the progress of scab during the season, but, for the estimation of the economic losses caused by the disease, assessment of scab on the fruits is essential.
Description: This protocol presents a visual, non destructive quantification method based on abundance classes for quick monitoring of diseases (apple scab, powdery mildew) and animal pests (codling moth, oriental fruit moth, tortrix moths, miner moths, aphids, scales, cicadellidae and mites) on apple tree, at the field scale.
Earwigs are generalist predatory arthropods which are natural enemies of various pomefruit pests. As they are mainly active at night, this method permits to evaluate their numbers during the day when they are not active.
