The 2017 Saclay Plant’ Innov' event, on the topic "Plants: a reservoir of innovation! ", was held on Tuesday, November 21st at the Institute of Plant Sciences Paris-Saclay (IPS2). It gathered around 100 participants, including more than 50 members of the SPS LabEx and 30 representatives of companies.

The SPS LabEx has been organizing this event for four consecutive years now, in order to stimulate the emergence of new innovative projects by promoting interactions between its research teams and potential partners from the private sector.

After a brief introduction describing the wide range of skills available within the SPS network, several LabEx members presented their "success stories", projects with remarkable outputs in partnership with companies. Some of their private partners were present and shared their experience about the quality of our research and the interest of collaborating with our laboratories. Two startups, which recently settled down within the SPS laboratories area, also presented their activities and explained their choice to settle very close to our researchers in order to benefit from their expertise.

The participants were then able to exchange during a lunch buffet, punctuated by many discussions. The afternoon started with B2B meetings, followed by visits of IPS2 platforms. Finally, to close this event rich in interactions, Maxence Pfeiffer, Business Developer of the SPS LabEx, reminded the attendees of the different ways in which academic researchers and companies could collaborate.

This year, 5 Competitiveness Clusters (Vitagora, IAR, Céréales Vallée, Végépolys and Cosmetic Valley) and 2 Carnot Institutes (3BCar and Plant2Pro) supported the event, in particular through communication towards their members and partners. As a result, 27 different companies were represented, a very good result for the LabEx!

Some of these companies already came back to SPS researchers and we are optimistic about the partnership opportunities that will open after this fourth Saclay Plant 'Innov' event.
